As announced in our Release Notes: The Beta Version (December 2025), we have released an update that rehauled the Leave Management system.
Here are key things that changed for our customers:
Automatic Unpaid for Excess Leave
Leave that is applied in excess of the balance will automatically be classified as unpaid.
If adjustments/balances are tweaked, the application would require to be re-saved to take effect.
Leave Pay determined by Leave Application
On a similar note, how a leave entry is paid (paid, unpaid, half-pay etc.) is now determined at the time of leave application. This ensures that the payment method that was approved at the application stage is adhered to.
Changes to sick rules/industry or entitlements will require the sick applications to be re-approved to take on any changes.
Leave as Separate Line Items
All leave payments will now show in the Run Payroll as separate line items. For employees on full-time methodologies, this will reduce from the Basic Hours.
Basic Hours for Variable/Exact Hours
Basic hours are now to be inputted as the 'worked hours' when using exact hours methodologies, such as for casual employees.
For those with exact hours, Buddy will attempt a deduction as long as the basic hours are not manually inputted.
Pro-Rata Method Changes
Due to the above change, note that using pro-rata leave will likely lead to unpaid leave early on in the year.
