Buddy supports two types of integration with Xero: journals and bills. This guide will explain the difference between the two types of integration and how to configure the general connection.
How to Integrate Buddy with Xero
To integrate Buddy with XERO:
- Go to Buddy's Company Settings
- Click on the Integrations tab.
- From there, click the Connect next to Xero for a Journals Integration.
- This will open an authorisation page on your Xero account.
- Select the Xero Organisation with which you want to connect and confirm.
Xero Export Format
Once your account is connected, you will be able to select one of two export formats:

Journal Entries
The Journal format will export credit and debit entries directly into Xero's Journals. This uses the categorisation set in the Accounting tab.

Bills (Wages + Tax)
The Bills format will export bills to Xero for the purpose of bank reconciliation. This will generate bills for both payslips' net pay, as well as the tax payment due.
