Fetching Notices
Within the Run Payroll page, click the Actions drop-down.
Then, click Fetch Coding Notices from HMRC
This will look for any new notices created:
- Up to 60 days before the creation of the company on Buddy (for new companies)
- Since the last notice check
Auto-Apply Changes
In your HMRC Gateway settings within your company (or bureau) settings, you can enable automating the tax code changes.
If this is not enabled, you will be required to manually review and apply any changes.
Via Automation
Bureaus can also enable an automation to fetch Coding Notices via EverRoll™: Types of Automated Executions (EverRoll™).
HMRC Notification Errors
Below are some of the potential errors that can come up when fetching notifications, and what action you should take:

Error Code 500
The error means that your HMRC token failed to validate. Update your Gateway credentials (in the company or at the bureau level if you're an agent) and try again. -
Request Failed. Reason Unknown.
The data failed to match. This is likely due to incorrect details such as PAYE reference. Check and update the company settings to ensure accurate data.
