Release Summary
Halloween is soon coming, but that doesn't mean everything should be spooky. Payroll software should not be scary, so our team has launched an update to create a more consistent, positive user experience.
The key highlights of this update are as follows:
- Critical Fix for the Invite Employee feature
- Capitalisation of all billing reference codes
- Change to Leave Entitlement for employees with termination dates in 2024 or later
- Other UX changes

Release Notes
Payroll
Changes to payroll primarily aimed at reducing a few frustrating instances, while making necessary changes to improve the scalability and performance of Buddy.
- Update: After editing payslips that have been already sent to the employee, they will automatically be re-accessible to the employee after concluding the payroll
- Update: When payslips fail to save (e.g. net is less than €0), leave will not be automatically unlinked. This change aims to improve the experience of users dealing with unpaid leave applications that span a full pay period.
- Fix: The loading of the payslips page in payroll history has an additional loader. This will ensure that for companies with a large volume of payslips, this page will always load all details.
Employees
The updates to employee pages include a necessary update for employee portal invitations, while also improving the user experience for a particular scenario.
- Fix: Newly invited employees will immediately have access to their associated details in their profile.
Do note that if you recently invited employees in the last couple of weeks and cannot access their payslips or leave data, they will need a re-invitation. - Fix: When importing employees in bulk, the Weekly Salary will be saved as expected, rather than defaulted to 0. This only impacts the data visible from the Employee Data Report.
- Fix: Terminations added on the same day of employment date can now be undone.
User Experience Improvements
User experience matters! Our team has made minor changes to improve the experience of our users on company creation, billing and payslip import.
- Update: After creating a new company, the user interface within the confirmation screen includes a Switch Company button.
- New: Billing emails are now being stored on our database and are accessible from the User Interface on Buddy.
- Update: All letters in the billing payment reference codes have been updated to uppercase to improve their readability and reduce mistakes when doing bank transfers.
- Update: Added an additional button to Download Errors Report at the top of the payslip import. Users who have a lot of errors will no longer need to scroll down to the bottom to download this.
Timesheets & Leave Management
A leave entitlement change has been deployed for employees who have termination dates in the following year or later. Aligning all entitlement until end-of-year should facilitate workflows and understanding between payroll teams, managers and employees.
- Update: Entitlement for future-terminated employees has been changed to calculate entitlement only until end-of-year.
- Update: The Import Leave Applications error messages have been updated to show further details for some errors.
- Fix: When editing timesheets, the Work Location will load the existing saved location, rather than occasionally loading the location of the previous timesheet
