It is important to keep track of your employees' leave balances in order to be able to forecast the amount of leave to Entitled, Consumed, Paid and Balance.
To view the remaining leave balance of your employees,
- Go to Leave Management
- Click on the Leave Balances tab.
- Apply filters for Department, Job Type and Year if applicable.
- Select whether you want to view the Consumed or Balance view
- Select whether you want to include Future Leave Application or not.
Consumed View
- VL CF (Vacation Leave Carried Forward)
The amount of VL Carried Forward at the beginning of the year - VL ENT (Entitled)
The amount of leave entitled for this year - VL ADJ (Manual Adjustments)
Amount of manual leave adjustment to the entitlement - TOIL (Time off in Lieu)
Hours of TOIL assigned in adjustments - VL CONS (Consumed)
The number of hours that employee has consumed (i.e. taken) as Vacation Leave until today. - VL PAID
The amount of vacation leave hours paid as an allowance (e.g. upon termination) - VL BAL (Balance)
Current Vacation Leave Balance with Leave taken until today - SICK
Hours of full-pay sick taken to date - 1/2 PAY SICK
Number of sick hours taken on half-pay - UNPAID SICK
Amount of sick leave hours taken as unpaid
Balances View
The balances shown on the screen are the balance remaining, according to your company settings. The columns show the following:
- VL CF (Vacation Leave Carried Forward)
The remaining balance of leave carried forward from the previous year - VL THIS YEAR*
The remaining balance of Vacation Leave that was accrued this year - TOTAL VL BAL
The remaining balance of Vacation Leave, including both balances above - SICK
The remaining balance of Sick Leave - ½ Pay Sick
The remaining balance of Sick Leave on ½ pay. This only applies to companies in certain industries - Any custom company leave (e.g. Study Leave)
You will also see the remaining balances for all custom types of leave the company has
*If you are calculating leave pro-rata, this will instead show Entitled 2D (Entitled to Date) which shows the remaining balance from the entitled amount to date.
