Buddy V2 Release Notes (8th January 2022)

Release Notes

From 2022, we have decided to upload a list of all changes and updates to Buddy. Previously, we have been sending emails directly to our users with details of our major updates, however these may have sometimes landed in overflowing inboxes and may have gone unnoticed. 

We are committed to updated the Release Notes so that our users can check at any stage for any updates, whilst still emailing our users with any major updates that they should be aware. We wish you all the best for 2022!

2022 Payroll Changes

As any other year, we have updated Buddy to reflect typical annual changes, as well as changes described in Malta's Budget for 2022:

  • Updated the Review COLA feature (See: Adding the Annual Cost Of Living Adjustment (COLA))
  • Updated the Carryover feature (See: Carrying Over Leave into a New Year)
    • Now also allows automatic payment in 1st 2022 payroll for any remaining leave in 2021
  • Part-time tax reduced to 10%
  • Overtime tax is now 15% for the first €10,000 Overtime earnings
  • Vacation Leave for 2022 is set to 224 Hours
  • SSC, Maternity, and Benefit Rates updated

Performance Changes

Overall, we were already happy with how Buddy performs compared to other payroll softwares. Having said that, we are constantly striving to improve performance, particularly for lower-end devices.

Other Changes

Employee Management

  • Add New Employee has a new segmented flow.
  • Date of Birth is now restricted to only allow dates for employees aged 14+ or older. (You can no longer mistakenly enter the date of engagement here)
  • Date of Birth is now pre-filled as 20-year-old.
  • Employee's Tax Details section now shows history of all previous Tax Details.

Advisors

Advisors are those specific accounts, such as accountants and payroll bureaus, which perform payroll for several clients using a centralised billing system. We have recreated the page to make it much easier to access and manage.

  • Updated Client List
  • Updated Credit History
  • In the general Company Settings, Advisors can now select options to:
    • Link Company to your Advisor Account
    • Use Advisor's Credits

Minor Changes

  • Updated User Interface of the Run Payroll page to improve clarity.
  • Updated User Interface in the settings pages for improved consistency and clarity.
  • Renamed "Is Managerial" to "OT Tax Opt Out" 
  • Updated email template for when Managers are invited through the Permissions page.
  • Adding new timesheet entries no longer requires a Work Location to be selected.
  • Payslip font reduced when more than 8 allowances are included. This ensures larger payslips till fit into one page. (6th January 2022)

Our philosophy at Buddy has always been to provide the best software possible for our customers. We could not be in the place we are today without our loyal customers and their feedback, and we hope that you will continue to give your input.

Smaller feedback can also be sent through the usual support channels. Although we cannot promise to implement all the requested features, we promise to review each request.
