Final March Updates
As payroll week peaks, Buddy has pushed another update with a few tweaks to improve the payroll experience of our users.
Public Holidays and Timesheets
When companies use timesheets, there are multiple factors that decide how employees get paid. These include both regulations per industry, such as the Wage Regulation Orders, but also the contracts agreed upon between the employer and the employee. This leads to several variations in how you may process timesheets, and hence, the Time & Attendance rule is built to allow for such customisations.
In this update, we are focusing primarily on additional options that cover Public Holidays more extensively, both for employees that work the public holidays, as well as for those that do not.
- Exclude Public Holidays from Target Hours
This is a new option in the Time & Attendance Rules page and it applies only when you have any Overtime rate that is calculated for Public Holidays. When choosing this, if someone worked a Public Holiday on an overtime rate, the public holidays are now excluded from the target hours so you can calculate under hours and overtime for all the other scheduled work days. - Auto-Create Public Holiday Leave
This option was introduced to the Settings --> Leave tab and will work for anyone with scheduled days. When a Public Holiday falls under one of the working days (as chosen in the Salary Details), Buddy will create a "Public Holiday" leave so that this is shown as such in the payslip. This will also help those using the Process Timesheets function when calculating under hours or overtime averaged over a long period (e.g. per month).- For Employees on Variable Hours, they will also be given a Public Holiday leave entry on weekdays, pro-rata of their basic hours in payslips of the last three months.
Hotfixes
This update also includes a couple of minor patches to improve the user experience:
- Users can now edit the salary allowances again during Run Payroll if they would like the amount to be different than the one saved in salary details.
- The Import Payslips feature was updated so that all custom allowances are referenced in the template.
- Adding leave with a comment or attachment from the admin portal will no longer get stuck on saving.
- This also resolves the issue for a couple of the new employees who were added on Buddy recently
- Purchasing Credits is now working as expected and no longer creates a new company, reducing the need for support.
