Summary of Update
In this update, we are introducing the Timesheets OCR (Optical Character Recognition) Import feature that has been thoroughly tested and optimised. This feature is aimed for those still entering timesheets using pen and paper methods to facilitate timesheet entry. Apart from this, we are also improving certain existing functions of Buddy to improve the general user experience.
Timesheets Optical Character Recognition
With the new Timesheets OCR Import feature, you can download paper templates for your employees to fill in their time entries. Rather than filling these out yourself, you can now take a photo of this paper and upload it for Buddy to process it into timesheet entries. This should save you a lot of time from counting up the hours of each employee, and it goes hand-in-hand with our Process Timesheets functionality in Payroll.

Other Improvements
- Timesheet Filters
- Along with the addition of the OCR Import Feature, our Timesheet page now includes three new filters: Work Locations; (Timesheet) Status; and Employment Type.
- Adding New Employees
- If you close the "Add New Employee" section half-way through, Buddy will save the existing details and mark it as incomplete. Incomplete entries can be identified by a yellow edit icon in the People page. This button will let the user continue without losing any details.
- Improvements to Payslip Import
- The tax details are now saved differently so that they can be used in the .xlsx Payroll Report in the Reports Section.
- Payslips on termination will also be imported without having to amend any Employee Details.
- Improvements to Vacation Leave Balances in Payroll
- When adding base hours to employees who are on Variable Hours, the payslip will automatically reflect the updated leave entitlement and balance.
- When paying Leave Balance to Date (e.g. on Termination), the balance in payslip will automatically reflect the updated balance.
- These two above changes will now also automatically update the Leave Balances appearing in the Run Payroll page, which should help you view the updated information in the preview without downloading the draft payslip.
- Employees/Companies with No Departments
- Employees without department in their Role Details will now properly be saved without a department, rather than an "undefined" department.
