How to Map Fields Between BambooHR and Buddy
Almost all sections follow the same structure of mapping, with the left-hand side showing Buddy's fields and BambooHR's fields being selectable on the right-hand side.
The only exception is the Leave types, which we kept under a separate guide: Mapping Leave Types with BambooHR.
Mapping Text Fields
When mapping fields like First Name, which are text, simply click on the drop-down on the right, type in the name of the BambooHR field and select it.
Once you start typing in the name, the available fields will be filtered until you find the relevant field (see screenshot in the sub-section below)
Mapping Date Fields
Similar to the above, start typing the BambooHR field name on the right and select the corresponding date field.
Note: Only BambooHR date fields will appear as selectable fields

Mapping Drop-Down Fields
Some fields on Buddy, such as Gender, are restricted by a multiple-choice input. On the left-hand side, you will see Buddy's available options (as visible in the previous screenshot).
Type in the corresponding BambooHR values for each Buddy option on the right-hand side.
Save the Updated Mappings
At the bottom right of the BambooHR integration settings, click the Save button to save any changes you have made.

Common Queries on Buddy's Fields
Most fields will be relatively straightforward (e.g. First Name requiring the employee's first name). However, if you are unfamiliar with Buddy, you may have some queries on what the fields refer to or why they are utilised.
Below is some additional information on the mapping of some of the fields:
-
Identification and Personal Details:
It's important that I.D. Card, Social Security Number and Last Name are mapped correctly. These not only appear in legal documents such as payslips but are also utilised for FSS submission purposes and are validated by the CFR during submission. -
Marital Details:
Although oftentimes they seem trivial, the date of marriage and spouse ID are utilised to split tax and FS3s when the date of marriage falls within the tax year. -
Salary and Tax Details:
Salary details are best explained in our article, Salary Details.
Similarly, the article Tax Details and Previous Earnings explains information on the tax settings, as well as what the Previous Earnings are (for employees employed during the tax year) -
Salary Details' Effective Date:
This should generally be the effective date of the salary on BambooHR. However, as specified in Importing Employees from BambooHR, this should be set as Engagement Date whilst doing the first-time imports, if you are importing non-new employees into Buddy. -
Allowances, Overtimes & Special Rates:
You may find a few default allowances ready to be mapped. In practice, most allowances and special rates need to be created within the company settings. If you need to add more, check out the article, Creating Custom Allowances or Overtime Settings.
