When you add sick Leave through Buddy, the system automatically calculates whether it is paid, half-pay, or unpaid during the Payroll Calculation Process.
Buddy will look at the sick leave balance, and if the leave application exceeds this balance, the remainder will go into half-pay sick leave (if applicable). If the half-pay sick balance is also exhausted, any further sick leave is assigned as unpaid sick.
Automated Entitlement based on Wage Regulation Orders
On the Settings page, each company sets its Industry. This industry determines the amount of paid sick leave to which employees are entitled and the starting date of this entitlement.

Manual Adjustments to Entitlement
There are circumstances where you will have made an agreement (e.g. employee is not entitled to sick but will pay them either way). In such cases, what you need to do is adjust the Sick Leave Balance for the employee through Adjusting Leave Balances.
In such a case, you can add a manual adjustment to increase the sick leave balance, and Buddy will then automatically calculate those leave applications as paid.
